T & C

28 November 2006

It's a Rough Job, but Somone has to do it!! I Guess I Will!

The month of November has brought about a few changes, namely it marked the begining of my 4 months away from Carolyn (needless to say I hate the thought of being away from her, let alone actually living it). The job in Kyrgyzstan isn't so bad though, relatively short days of about 12 hours and many of them, making the time go faster.
Recently a few of us got a sort of "vacation", at least it felt like it. We were able to stay in Germany for about 4 days, one of which we pent in Paris. Yes, I actually went to France. I know it's hard to believe. However, it was 1000x better than I expected it to be. The city is amazing with all of its history. If you've never been, put it on your list, you will be in awe. Anyway, here's some pics of what I saw...

Here I am in front of Notre Dame. It was incredible! The architecture and intricasies of every inch completely amazed me. I won't post all the pics b/c I don't have enough time, but there isn't an inch of stone not decorated with some sculpture or other decoration. Inside is equally impressive with beautiful stained glass and more sculptures.

The Louvre. Yes, it actually existed before "The DaVinci Code" came out. It wasn't built just for the movie, I checked!!!

As you can see, the weather was perfect for the walk around Paris. We didn't go inside at all b/c we didn't have enough time. Maybe some other time. If the inside is as awesome as the outside, I'm definitely going back, but will bring the love of my life with me next time!

Here's what I call the victory arch, as the actually name is to hard to pernounce. It's at the end of a famous street called the Champs de Lise, where we stopped in a cafe and had a bottle of wine and dinner.

The Eifel Tower at night is sweet, cold at the top though. Not only is it completely lit up, but every hour on the hour there are thousands of bright white lights that blink on and off for about 5 minutes. I can't load a video of it so you'll have to see it when I see you again.

Anyway, we saw all of these sights in only 9 hours. We walked the whole time, I'm not sure how many miles it totaled, but it was a lot, I recommend taking the Metro or Taxis if you can.

This last pic is of me in Kaiserslautern, Germany. We were able to catch a big Christmas festival. I had some great Hot Chocolate and enjoyed the scenes, such as the castle/church below.
